Matthew Steffer, DDS, MS

Dr. Matthew Steffer is a native of Arlington, Texas, and is a graduate with honors of Baylor University, with a degree in Biochemistry.  Dr. Steffer completed his dental degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where he was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society which highlights academic excellence.  Dr. Steffer then completed a comprehensive program in periodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX, where he earned his certificate in periodontics and Masters of Science in Oral Biology. During his residency, Dr. Steffer served as the chief resident and completed a master’s thesis project studying minimally-invasive techniques for treating periodontal disease. Since the completion of his specialty training, Dr. Steffer achieved board certification status from the American Board of Periodontology by successfully completing rigorous written and oral examinations.

Dr. Steffer’s training has made him an expert at treating a variety of periodontal (gum) diseases, including excessive or receding gums. Dr. Steffer is also an expert in dental implants ranging from the replacement of a single tooth to more comprehensive “teeth-in-a-day” options for the whole mouth. He is also licensed to provide moderate levels of intravenous conscious sedation, allowing for a more comfortable, relaxed dental experience.

Dr. Steffer has a passion for the underserved and has served on multiple dental mission trips to Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico.  He is a member of American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Ft. Worth District Dental Society, American Academy of Periodontics, Southwest Society of Periodontics and Texas Society of Periodontics, allowing him opportunities to be on the cutting edge of new technologies and treatments available in dentistry. Dr. Steffer also participates in study clubs with dentists and dental hygienists, teaching them about new trends in periodontics.

On a personal note, Dr. Steffer has been married to his wife, Karen, for 7 years, and they have two young children – a son, Graham (4), and a daughter, Kaitlin (18 mo).  Dr. Steffer and his family attend Gateway Church in Southlake, TX. In their spare time, they enjoy traveling, going to movies, and visiting family.
